This is fantastic - - I absolutely love it, and I haven't heard it in a very long time.I got a pang of sadness while listening to it. The world has changed so much since Janis was alive - - it seems that all logic and reason has vanished. Hate reigns supreme....(unfortunately).
Jon, how right you are! Janis did not have the best voice in the world, but as a woman entertainer in a male dominated world (female rock stars were unknown in the 1960s) she opened doors for what was to follow. Sadly, most of what has followed is pure media hype. I'll always love Janis because she kept it real. Plus she sang rock, blues, folk - all in her own individual way.She was not a conventional person, and you could hear the pain in her voice. Society often judged her harshly, but she did not back down. She was brave - never plastic. Now most popular performers are plastic as hell (never brave). That's why I choose to remain faithful to people like Janis :-)
You've hit the target exactly, Dylan! Janis was genuine and unpretentious. That's almost unheard of nowadays.
Don't be shy...
