    1. How you have enriched my life, Dylan. Until today I never truly understood WHY I loved Plath from such a young age. At this stage of my life I only now realize the full depth of meaning I saw as my own. Thank you, my sweetie. I'm much more fulfilled for knowing you.

    2. Same here, Dana: Plath, Sexton and Dickinson - my holy trinity :-)

  2. What an astoundingly powerful poem. After I heard it here, I searched for it on the Internet and read it several times. Unfortunately, it took a long time before I understood and appreciated Sylvia Plath. You have brought her back into my life and I am very grateful for it.

Dylan, are you familiar with the poetry of Thomas James? He is not widely known but has inspired a cult-following over the years.

He only published one book of poetry "Letters to a Stranger" before committing suicide in 1974. It was recently "discovered" that he was gay, but I already surmised that from reading between the lines of his poems.
I was strongly influenced by Thomas James when I first started writing poetry.

    1. Hey, thanks for telling me about Thomas James. I'd never read his poetry until now - so sad about how he died. I read two of his poems and liked both immensely.

I'm glad he's finally being read by students, teachers and critics. If not for the internet - he'd have remained an obscure poet. He deserves to be read and admired by many :-)

    1. Poetry kept Sylvia alive. It's a pity she did not live long enough to see The Bell Jar and Ariel make her name.
