I "inherited" a pair of these glass Coke bottles (circa 1976) when my lover passed away. Since all Coke/Pepsi bottles are now plastic, it never dawned on me to start collecting them. However, that all changed a year ago when I happily discovered Safeway was actually selling glass bottles of Coke, Pepsi, Sprite and 7 Up.

So I bought two bottles of Pepsi....

and two bottles of Coke (made in Mexico?). I intend to buy the green Sprite and 7 Up bottles when I make my next trip to Safeway. I'll get a pair of each: I'd like to think they are keeping each other company :-)

P.S. What do you collect?

  1. I love glass bottles and had no idea that they are being sold again. I haven't seen any around my neck of the woods - but perhaps they are only appearing in bigger cities.

I have accumulated a lot of things but I don't collect anything in particular. I do like antique books and had some interesting ones - which the movers "lost" when I moved to Tennessee.

  2. That's awful about the "lost" books, Jon. I remember how upset I was when my first edition of Robert Mapplethorpe's The Perfect Moment went missing after I moved to Oregon. And to add insult to injury - it cost me a small fortune to leave Chicago (my hometown). Moving sucks big time.

  3. You're right about moving costing a small fortune. I couldn't afford the insurance, and the movers "lost" a lot of my most cherished possessions - including all of my diaries and journals. The issue still hasn't been resolved. I'll never trust another mover - - but it's too late....

    1. Gosh, that's a tough one. I didn't take any chances with my journals (made sure they were with me during the long 2,000 mile bus ride). Lucky thing you have a good memory: I've greatly enjoyed your tales of Hollywood when it was still a bit dangerous and thrilling. Sort of reminds me of my wild nights in Chicago during my youth :-)

Don't be shy...
