My family thought I'd lost my mind when I told them I wanted this expensive (at that time) Classical music collection for Christmas. First, we did not even own a stereo. Second, wasn't Dolly Parton and Charlie Rich (on the radio) good enough for me?
They bought me a stamp collection instead they'd found on sale at Woolworth's for $2.95. I know this because I'd seen it with my own eyes when I was looking around the store a week before Christmas :-)
