Absolutely! Thanks for introducing this to me. I love Bukowski. I saw a documentary on him and remember him talking about how he transitioned from novels to poetry.
Almost all of his work is confessional, so it's remarkable he survived as long as he did. His second wife was a strict vegetarian, so he lived a decade longer than he would have otherwise - thanks to her healthy influence :-)
